Fikret returned to his old profession, sailing, and sailed to distant seas with the ship he worked as a crewman. While the ship was sailing in the Indian Ocean, it was attacked by Somali pirates, the pirates seized the ship, and Fikret jumped into the sea and escaped.

The next day, Fikret runs aground on a beach on the Indian coast, unconscious. A few Indian villagers find Fikret and take him to a nearby Buddhist temple for treatment.

Five months pass, Fikret regains his health, meets and befriends a Turk named Serkan, who is studying at the temple. Serkan, who has the taste of "The Wise Who Sold His Ferrari", admired Fikret's character and his way of looking at life. Fikret, who cannot adapt to the temple life that requires discipline, argues with the chief priest, and the chief priest expels Fikret and Serkan from the temple.

Fikret and Serkan return to Turkey. Serkan invites Fikret to his farmhouse to host him for a few days. Serkan's parents are on vacation. Fikret, Serkan and Serkan's older sister Melis spend that night together. Fikret was very impressed by Melis.
